We are proud to let you know that we camp 11 months every year, usually traveling 1 – 2 hours to each campsite. Whether its hiking in Kohler-Andrae State Park, staying close at Chain o' Lakes State Park, canoeing at Kankakee River State Park, or the big trip to the annual Grant Pilgrimage, all of our Scouts have an adventure to share when they get back home.
During the cold months of November, January, and February we rent a cabin. Throughout the remaining milder & warm months, we tent. We do not camp in December.
We spend the 3rd week in July at the MaKaJaWan Scout Reservation in Pearson, WI. During this campout new Scouts are put on the fast track for rank advancement and veteran Scouts earn multiple Merit Badges, all in the great outdoors. Contact us about both our High Adventure outings and how the adventure continues once your Scout earns Eagle.
To make sure our Scouts are well equipped for all of their adventures, we hold several fundraisers each year, including Pancake Breakfasts, Popcorn Sales, and selling Christmas Wreaths & Poinsettias. Some of the money goes towards Troop expenses; the rest goes into each participating Scout’s account where they can take pride in knowing that they can pay their own expenses.
Our Service Projects support local Non-Profit Organizations such as our Charter Organization - Annunciation of Our Lady Episcopal Church, Gurnee Park District, Lake County Forest Preserves, and support the community with our bi-annual roadside clean-up of a short portion of Almond Rd, South of Gages Lake Rd in Gurnee.
